You're sourcing deals, not reading about them.

Scouts carry the hardest job in venture with the thinnest toolkit. PitchBook is $20K+/yr. Crunchbase Pro tells you about rounds after they're announced. Warm-intro networks tell you what everyone else already knows.

GitDealFlow reads a different tape: public GitHub engineering activity across 350+ startup orgs. When a team's commit velocity accelerates, contributors join, and infrastructure repos appear, that's a company getting ready to move. In the backtested panel of 219 startup-period observations, that acceleration showed up 21-47 days before the round was announced.

The methodology is published openly on SSRN. The Scout Pass gives you the live feed, free, because scouts who find great deals early tell their partners where they found them.

Questions scouts actually ask

Is this really free? What's the catch?

It's free for active scouts. No catch, no credit card. Scouts are the most important distribution channel in early-stage VC, if GitDealFlow is useful to you, you'll tell your partners. When you eventually join or start a fund, you'll upgrade to Insider Circle. That's the model.

Who qualifies as a "scout"?

Anyone who sources deals for a VC fund or angel invests actively: formal scout program members, informal fund scouts, and independent angels with 2+ disclosed investments in the past year.

How do you verify I'm a real scout?

LinkedIn profile + program affiliation, checked by hand. Independent angels: AngelList/Crunchbase investment history. The whole process takes 24-48 hours for most applicants.

Can I keep my Scout Pass forever?

It's a 12-month renewable term. As long as you're actively scouting or angel investing, renew indefinitely. There's an annual check-in.

Can I share signals with my fund partners?

Yes, that's the point. Forward the digest, screenshot signals, bring names to partner meetings. Just don't resell the data as a competing product.

I'm a student interested in VC. Do I qualify?

Not for Scout Pass, but the free Sunday email at gitdealflow.com is perfect for learning deal-flow signals. When you start scouting or investing, come back and apply.

Who built this?

The Data Nerd, an engineer who writes the occasional small angel cheque. Pseudonymous because the signal matters more than the personality. The methodology is published openly on SSRN.
